Jaw's Issue

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with Jaw's stuttering.
I have a home built computer that is supposedly much faster then a store bought computer. The computer tech I have now says that his computer is simply "running to fast for your JAW's to catch up". He says there's nothing wrong, but I have to turn off the computer up to 5 times a day, then turn it back on a while later. It has good days where it will stutter, but not often & it'll stop on it's own so I don't have to turn it off. But on the bad days, as I said, I'm turning it off & on up to 5 times in a 24 hour period.
I've run virus scans & do run them often, & they always come up that no files are infected or needing to be cleaned or quarentined.
I will also point out that I've had this computer for a year & when I first got it & had JAW's 10 installed, it worked fine. Then about 3 months ago something went wrong & JAW'S had to be re-installed. After it was re-installed & updated to JAW'S 10.1, that's when all the problems started.

Now though, it's so bad I'm thinking of getting rid of this computer (selling it back to the computer tech, paying off the loan I had to take out to buy it, & saving up to get a store bought one). I'd hate to give this up considering it would probably take me at least a year to get the money for a new computer, but I may have to because I can't afford to be taking it into him once a week either.

My apologies for the length of this post. Anyway, if anyone has similar stories, or any ideas of what I should do next, please post, email or message me.
I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi

You can install a Jaws 10, or earlier, versions along with the 10.1 one. If you hav the time I'd suggest trying it, just to see what happens (you can get any version of Jaws from FS web site). Are you running Windows Vista?
Computer being too fast is a non-issue, that's gotnothing to do with how Jaws works.
Do you have any other problems with the sound card at all (when playing music ormovies or some such?)
Can you try another complete uninstall and reinstall of Jaws, if installing the earlier version does not work?
Are you aware of any other problems witht he computer at all?
The "good" news, if you are to call it good, is that places like buy.com are selling PCs with very good specs, Windows and all for under $400, not with display but you can easeily get a display, 17 inch used one of Craigslist, for unde $100, may be even $50, so that'snot a problem at all.
You may also want to tryand reinstall your soundcard drivers or update them, if you know where your soundcard is from.
Hope any of this might help.

Also, how about system resources, what's running on startup when the computer comes on?
What kind of services are loading when your computer loads? What is your antivirus program? What type of Video card is installed.
Also, what kind of sound card are you running does it have a control panel where you can turn on affects such as reverb hall, ETC.
